HTC/T-Mobile G1 Review (Unbiased)

I’m going to give my personal, unbiased review over the T-Mobile G1.

android osFirst off, I was able to grab the G1 through the corporate department using my employer for a special package. The phone remained the same price at $179.99. However, the perks include:
- 1 yr contract instead of 2
- free bluetooth headset up to $60 value
- free car charger
- activation fee ($29) waived
- free 3-day shipping (i chose the next day option for $25)

Thus, I strongly recommend you contact T-Mobile Business Direct Line if you’re eligible via your employer.

Things I like about the G1:
- Google O/S is good. I like the GUI
- Nice screen
- Decent battery life
- Full keyboard is nice but takes getting used to
- Trackball is nice

Things I don’t like about the G1:
- Not enough applications (yet)
- Long delay for screen to turn on when screen is flipped
- No headphone jack (doesn’t matter as I use bluetooth)
- Sometimes, when first entering an application, the trackball doesn’t work unless I use the touchscreen to move the screen and then, it activates the trackball
- No Exchange support (yet)
- No built-in, turn by turn navigation software (yet)
- No ability to customize font size (useful for email browsing)

Conclusion: I’m keeping my G1 but willing to sell it for profit.
