The T-Mobile G1 uses wallpapers with the dimensions 640×480 wallpapers instead of the normal 320×480 that the iPhone and other phones use. The reason for this is that when you move to the left or right desktops you don’t get an entire new view of the image, you are now viewing half of the middle of the image and the left or right sides. Until someone makes an application to allow for 3 separate 320×480 wallpapers the G1 will use 640×480 or any 4:3 ratio wallpaper. If you use a 320×480 wallpaper it will be stretched out and obviously not look too good.
I’ve also uploaded a PSD and jpeg template for anyone to use to help make them selves some wallpapers. additionally i’ll be posting up a bunch of wallpapers over the next couple weeks since i’ve been having a lot of fun lately in photoshop CS3.
Tips:
it’s best to use the highest resolution image and then crop it in android when you select the wallpaper. aspect ratio doesn’t matter since you crop it at the correct ratio in android. for best results, do not resize the image before using.
